Liverpool manager Arne Slot has offered an update on Andrew Robertson after the player sustained an injury in his team's 2-1 Premier League win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 28.
Earlier this Saturday, the Reds moved to the top of the Premier League table after recording their fifth win in six games. Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah netted a goal each on either side of Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri's goal in the 56th minute of the league contest.
Robertson, 30, started his sixth straight league contest against Gary O'Neil's outfit. However, he was forced to be substituted off after being on the wrong end of a late tackle by Carlos Forbs in the 89th minute.
After the end of Liverpool's clash at Molineux Stadium, Slot was queried to provide his thoughts on Robertson's injury. The 46-year-old Dutchman replied (h/t Metro):
"I don't expect this to be a big problem, although you never know, but I think he just got a knock. End phase of the game, maybe he was a bit tired as well because the guy who came in – Forbs, I knew him, of course, from the Dutch competition – he made it a real fight for him. He got a bit of a knock but I'm expecting him to be in training on Monday again, but let's wait [and see]."
Robertson, who missed 21 games across all competitions due to a shoulder injury last term, could miss Liverpool's UEFA Champions League match against Bologna on October 2. He could either be replaced by Kostas Tsimikas or Joe Gomez in his team's starting lineup.
Arne Slot reacts to Liverpool's recent win
At a post-game press conference, Arne Slot shared his thoughts on his club being top of the Premier League table with 15 points from six games. He elaborated (h/t Metro):
"It's almost ideal that we played Wolves today because we are top and they're last and they absolutely don't deserve to be last. They had a very difficult fixture list and I've seen many games of them and in almost every game, they deserve more. You could even argue [that] today because it wasn't like we were so much better than them."
Slot, who helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title in 2023, added:
"We still have to prove that when we come across Arsenal, Newcastle United, Chelsea [and] Aston Villa [to see] if we can then still be up there with Champions League games included as well."
Liverpool relished 55% possession, registered 10 shots, created 2.54 xG, and also completed 455 passes with 85% accuracy on Saturday.
The Reds will visit Crystal Palace in their next league encounter.
