Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a farewell message to Nacho Fernandez after the defender announced that he'd be leaving Real Madrid this summer.
Nacho leaves the Spanish giants after winning 26 trophies with them. He is an academy product of the club and made his first-team debut in the 2010-11 season. Nacho has since made 364 senior appearances for Los Blancos.
The Spaniard posted an Instagram message announcing his exit from Real Madrid. He will now join Saudi Pro League club Al-Quadsiah, as per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Cristiano Ronaldo left a comment under Nacho's post, writing:
"You are one of the heros of Real Madrid's great history. Be proud of what you achieved, Nacho."
Nacho is the joint most decorated player in the history of Los Merengues. His contributions were often overlooked due to the presence of defenders like Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, and others.
He became more prominent over the years. Especially in his last season at the club, Nacho played a pivotal role. Injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba meant Nacho became a regular.
The 34-year-old won three trophies in his final season in the Spanish capital, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de Espana.
