Football pundit Robbie Savage believes new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim's system does not suit Alejandro Garnacho. The pundit claimed the Argentine would struggle for minutes under the tactician.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Savage pointed out that Garnacho could probably play as a wing-back instead as one of the two attacking midfielders in his system. He said:
“I don’t think Ruben Amorim’s system suits Alejandro Garnacho. He was used as one of the number tens. I think he is better as one of the wing-backs. You start discovering things that you didn't know like Garna [Alejandro Garnacho], can hold the ball between lines, you can understand that by seeing the games because he's always open so you try to find these things."
Ruben Amorim took over at Manchester United earlier this month and faced Ipswich Town in his first Premier League game as charge of the side on Sunday, November 24. The Red Devils drew 1-1 at Ipswich, with Marcus Rasford scoring in the second minute. Omari Hitchinson equalized for the home side later in the first half.
Manchester United legend hits out at Alejandro Garnacho
Roy Keane was not happy with Alejandro Garnacho's non-celebration after scoring in the 3-0 win over Leicester City on November 10. The Red Devils legend urged him not to let criticism from fans get into his head.
He said (via GOAL):
"If you can’t celebrate a goal, there is something drastically wrong with this game. Whatever has gone on off the pitch for any player – it could be family stuff – you work all week, you’re playing the game to score a goal. When you score a goal, there should be nothing else on your mind. You’ve got fans who have traveled, paid fortunes to get there, and he's on about people having a go at him."
"People make sacrifices to travel to watch Manchester United, he scores a brilliant goal, they are having a tough time – and if a younger player can’t enjoy scoring a goal for Man United, then get a job somewhere else," he added.
Alejandro Garnacho was confronted by a Manchester United fan ahead of the match. He scored a stunning goal against Leicester City but chose not to celebrate.
