Real Madrid sensation Jude Bellingham picked teammate Luka Modric over Los Blancos legend Zinedine Zidane in a recent interview.
The England international was put under pressure to choose between the aforementioned midfield greats. However, it may not be surprising to see that Bellingham went with the Croatian, with whom he played in the 2023/24 season.
The pair have shared the pitch on 35 occasions across competitions, bagging two joint goal contributions in the process. When asked to choose between Modric and Zidane, Bellingham said (via @theMadridZone):
"Zidane or Modric? Modric"
However, in his final question in the 'this or that' segment, the 20-year-old failed to choose between the departing Toni Kroos and Modric. He said:
"Modric or Kroos? It's like asking mum or dad. Impossible. Both."
Modric has been brilliant for Real Madrid since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2012. Overall, the 38-year-old has made 534 appearances across competitions for the Spanish giants, bagging 39 goals and 86 assists.
He's won the La Liga trophy on four occasions at the Santiago Bernabeu while having lifted the UEFA Champions League six times, among other honors. Modric also has a Ballon d'Or to his name from his time at the club.
Meanwhile, the former French midfielder spent five years at Real Madrid between 2001 and 2006. In that period, he made 227 appearances across competitions, bagging 49 goals and 68 assists.
Zidane won the Liga Liga and UEFA Champions League once each, among other honors, in the Spanish capital.
Luka Modric has been impressed by Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham's mentality
Jude Bellingham has also received praise from his Real Madrid teammate and footballing great Luka Modric. The English midfielder only joined Los Blancos last summer for a reported €103 million from Borussia Dortmund.
Already, the youngster has made 42 appearances across competitions, bagging 23 goals and 13 assists. Speaking to TNT Sports about Bellingham, Modric said (via GOAL):
"Jude has shown to everyone what kind of player and what kind of talent he is, but what surprised me most about him, because I didn't know him when I saw him playing, and I heard things about him, was his mentality.
"His work ethic is second to none, He is amazing every training session, every game. His winning mentality is what impressed me apart from his football IQ."
In his first season at Real Madrid, Bellingham managed to win the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League trophy. He's currently with England as they look ahead to their Euro 2024 campaign.
