Inter Milan announce Lukaku, OGS reveals why he was sold
Inter Milan have announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. The Belgian left the club after enduring 2 seasons of mixed fortunes at Old Trafford. Speaking to the press after Deadline Day and ahead of their first game of the new season against Chelsea, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that it was time for the Belgian to leave.
He said,
"It was time for Rom to go. We got a good deal and he is happy so both parties ended that deal as it should be. Rom was injured for a while in pre-season and he didn’t participate. I just hope that he gets a good start at Inter Milan.”
He also added that it is Mason Greenwood's time to shine. It sounds a lot like Lukaku's deal was sealed in a bid to ramp up the progress of Greenwood and accelerate his integration to the first team.
Solskjaer added:
"Towards the end of last season we didn’t score a lot of goals. Mason Greenwood’s pathway would have been more difficult with another striker there. I believe that Mason is going to be playing and involved a lot and when he is, he will score goals.”
