Nicklas Bendtner told to leave Arsenal in January by Denmark manager Olsen

Nicklas-Bendtner

Arsenal’s second choice Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner has been told to leave Arsenal during the January transfer window by his national team manager Morten Olsen.

In what was a bizarre summer transfer window for Arsenal which saw the North London outfit shed many of its dead woods, Bendtner was the only one alongside Park Chu Young who had managed to stay at the Emirates. However, that has not been Arsenal’s problem. Failure to find any decent backup for Giroud and injuries to Podolski and Walcott meant that Bendtner was the only available option to look at when they are a goal down.

Arsenal who were trailing by a goal at Old Trafford last Sunday and were desperate to find a goal and in came Bendtner who had two perfect opportunities to score and especially off a ball from Sanga in the dying seconds which the Dane squandered leaving the Gunners to return empty handed. And it was not the first time that Bendtner made Arsene Wenger pay for his mistakes.

Following the United game, Bendtner’s National manager Olsen has adviced him to leave Arsenal as he feels the Dane’s career has been stalled. Quoted by Skysports, Olsen said:

“Bendtner scored two great goals for us in the game against Italy, but there were also things he lacked in the match and this only comes through playing games”, said Olsen.

“It is for this reason that he should find something new this winter, and so, we know that well. I think he will make the recommendation to himself and that is the main thing. Footballers want to play football.

“He has maybe 10 years left to go; he must use them well.”

Having played as a second fiddle striker at Juventus last year, Bendtner was tipped to leave Arsenal permanently in the summer and the Dane’s best choice would be to leave Arsenal as soon as possible. The 25-year old who has spent almost his entire senior career with Arsenal has nothing much to look behind on his playing career so far and a mid table club in the Premier League or any other European league would be the best choice for him.
