After Ghana, another African team, Nigeria have cancelled their training session over the non-payment of bonuses the team was due to receive.
According to BBC, the players felt that they were each $15,000 (£8,800) short which they expected to receive after reaching the round of 16.
Nigeria qualified for the next round despite losing to Argentina 3-2 as they finished second in the group and will face France on June 30, 2014.
It is understood that the confusion lay in the structuring of the bonuses the Super Eagles were supposed to receive. According to the players, they believed would receive $10,000 for their win over Bosnia-Herzegovina and $5000 for their draw with Iran and also $30,000 as prize money for qualifying for the next stage which they haven't received yet.
But according to Nigeria Football Federation, their offer to the players included the win bonus, draw bonus and 30% of the total prize money handed out by FIFA for qualifying for the next round.
NFF had made it clear that the percentage of prize money will increase simultaneously as they progress to each round.
Nigerian manager, Stephen Keski said that the authorities are looking into the matter and despite the issue the team is focused on their match against France. This certainly is not the first time that Nigeria had faced problems regarding bonus payment issues because of which they had arrived late last time to take part in the Confederation Cup in Brazil.
Earlier, another African team Ghana had created a stir in the world of football as they had refused to train over the non-payment of the participation fees due to which a plane was deployed from Ghana to Brazil carrying almost $3m with each Ghana player receiving their share of the cash.
