Queen Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has no qualms over the decision to buy the club and will support the team, even if they get relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season.
QPR will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and might do Manchester United a favor by drawing or winning the match against table toppers Manchester City. A defeat against City would mean the Hoops will get relegated if Bolton beat Stoke.
But Fernandes, who completed the club’s takeover last summer, insists he is enjoying the experience. Speaking to QPR Player, the Air Asia owner said:
“We still have a bit of work to do to stay up; whether we stay up or not I’m convinced I made the right decision coming to this club. The journey is set, we are on this road, nothing is going to stop me. I’m loving it and hopefully the fans are happy with what we’re doing.
“It has been our season all year, lots of ups and downs, but there is something that just keeps going for us. When everything looks bleak, suddenly that spark comes; 2-0 down at Liverpool, we come back and win 3-2. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot, though, but we keep doing it.”
QPR will look to offload a plethora of players including the likes of Patrick Agyemang, Radek Cerny, Lee Cook, Kieron Dyer, Danny Gabbidon, Fitz Hall, Peter Ramage and Danny Shittu, who are all out of contract at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Angelo Balanta, Matt Connolly, Troy Hewitt, Rob Hulse and Brian Murphy might be offloaded to make way for new signings.
