Luis Suarez managed a magnificent treble as Liverpool FC brushed Norwich aside to win the tie 5-2 to lift themselves from the relegation zone.
Pass, and Pass
There was more fluidity in Liverpool’s play yesterday, as I think that the 11 out there were 11 of our most technically proficient in their respective positions. Very quick out of the blocks, and very good in execution of the ball. I think Suso is a perfect example of this, as he showed comfort and vision when on the ball trying to pick out teammates.
The passing remains there, and the pressing will come whenever we lost the ball, therefore making us very difficult to play with yesterday.
The All-Important First Goal
I’ve talked about this previously, and this is just another example. Liverpool need the first goal of games, otherwise it opens them up, and let’s the players panic – losing the passing rhythm and what not.
Liverpool scoring the first goal opened the opposition instead, allowing Liverpool to dictate proceedings for the 90 minutes in its entirety. That is the importance of getting that first goal for Liverpool, as the Reds have crumbled after conceding the first goal of late.
Bright Futures
I say this all the time, but the youngsters in this team truly have the capability for being in this first team squad for a long time now. In Suso and Sterling, we have some ‘magic’ in the team that it has been craving for.
Whilst Andre Wisdom produced a performance worthy of a veteran, as he fed Suso well, and was magnificent in marking his men and making his tackles. A real strong fella, that Wisdom, and I reckon he’s got a long future ahead of him.
A Much Needed Win
This was a much needed win. After starting the season fairly dismally, we really needed to get a win at Carrow Road to prevent the alarm bells from ringing. The margin of the scoreline was an extra bonus, but it’s nice to see Liverpool out of the relegation zone and into 14th position for now. It’ll do for now, but there must be improvement.
