Nothing but gratitude - Thank you Juan Mata

The last few days have surely put most Chelsea fans through emotional turmoil. Of course, I am referring to the Juan Mata transfer saga. The reasons behind the departure were quite evident. No player of such quality wants to play second fiddle, especially with a World Cup place to fight for. Unfortunately, every book has its last chapter and sadly this was Juan Mata’s last for Chelsea.

Bearing in mind all the complications that went through between the player and manager, I am pretty sure no Chelsea fan on the planet enjoyed Mata being transferred to an immediate rival like Manchester United. But you have to take into consideration the thoughts of the player as well. Why should we bar a player who has not been getting the game time he deserves, from going to a club where he would be comfortable?

Manchester United are a fantastic team with an exceptional history and countless legends, and it leaves me no doubt that Mata has picked the right choice on from a player’s perspective. May he be able to showcase his potential to the utmost.

It also has to be said that, the club, the manager, and Mata himself have parted terms on the best of ways possible, and that’s how it should be. Nothing but respect on all fronts. Mata’s last blog has to be mentioned, where he laid out his respects and gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Chelsea Football Club. One of the few reasons why we adore you as a player as well as a wonderful human being.

Juan Mata has been a warrior for Chelsea in the last couple of seasons. His two Player of the Year awards prove that. Having said that, all of us level headed Chelsea fans should wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

Lastly, on behalf of Chelsea fans around the world, I would like say, ‘Thank You Juan Mata’ for everything that you have done for this club ever since you wore blue for the first time. Thank you for all those memorable games, those fantastic goals, the innumerable assists and most importantly for all the smiles. You have been etched in our history and you will stay there forever.
