So the two people with similar sounding names have finally been united. The man Sir Alex Ferguson called the best midfielder in the Premier League last season N’Golo Kante has completed his move to Chelsea.
The player had been chased by a number of clubs including the likes of Real Madrid and Arsenal but Chelsea have beaten them to the punch. The deal is apparently worth €36 million and it will be a 5-year contract for the midfield mand.
Leicester confirmed the move on their twitter handle.
Kante will join the likes of Matic, Fabregas and Mikel. It will be interesting to see how Conte will use Kante in his system. Kante Mahrez and Vardy formed the core of the Leicester side that won the title in incredible fashion.
N’Golo Kante spoke on Chelsea FC's official website after his move:
“I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a dream come true for me.
‘The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down.
‘My first season in English football was very special and now I hope to go on to achieve even more during my time as a Chelsea player. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and helping the club achieve a lot of success.”
Chelsea also announced the same on their twitter handle:
The technical director of football at the club Michael Emenalo also shared his thoughts:
“N’Golo is a fantastic signing ahead of the new season and we are delighted to have been able to bring such a talented player to the club. He is a perfect fit in terms of Antonio Conte’s philosophies and the style of football he wants to play.
‘For a player of his age he has already built up a wealth of experience and his exceptional quality will without doubt be a great addition to the team.”
