Liverpool FC have today announced the signing of Chelsea and English forward Daniel Sturridge on a long-term deal, supposed to be five years.
The 23-year old had been on Rodger’s radar for a while now and his limited game-time at Chelsea this season prompted him to quickly make the switch to the Merseyside outfit. The news will come as a relief for Liverpool fans who have been craving for a strike force up front to reduce the burden on Luis Suarez.
Sturridge on signing, said - “I am humbled and happy to be here.”
“Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time – and I also see myself here for a long time. I’ve not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.
“I’ve signed to be here for as long as possible. It’s a humongous club – for me, one of the biggest in the world – and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing.”
Sturridge will however not take part in today’s League match against Sunderland at Anfield.
