Official: Tottenham Hotspur confirm transfer of defender Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest

Romanian international centre-back Vlad Chiriches has signed for Tottenham Hotspur, the club have confirmed on twitter:

BBC Sport had earlier reported that the 23-year-old was in London to finalise a deal believed to be worth around £8.5 million.

He earlier played for FC International Curtea de Arges and Pandurii Targu Jiu before joining Steauea Bucharest in 2011/12.

It is also understood that Spurs are close to completing the deal for Roma forward Erik Lamela in a deal worth £25,7 million.

The Lamela move could trigger the completion of Gareth Bale‘s mooted move to Real Madrid which seems to be stalling as Tottenham look for a suitable replacement.
