Newly appointed Cardiff City boss has made a bold claim that on-loan winger Wilfried Zaha has the potential to go on and become as good a player as Real Madrid superstar and current Ballon d’Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo.
Solksjaer heaped praise on Zaha after watching him come on as a substitute and inspire his team to a crucial 2-1 victory over Norwich on Saturday.
Zaha moved from Crystal Palace to Manchester united in June 2013 but hardly made any appearances for the Premier League champions. However, Zaha turned the game around on Saturday after coming on for his Cardiff debut prompting praise from his gaffer.
“He is one of the best I have seen with the ball,” said Solskjaer.
“He has quick feet and is brave like Cristiano and wants to go forward. But he has got to make a decision about how good does he want to be and how much does he love this game. He can grow up to become a proper player like Ronaldo if he wants,” he added.
Solskjaer, who played in the same team as ronaldo for 4 years at Old Trafford, insists that it has not come as a surprise to him that the former United star has gone on to be one of the best players on the planet.
“I have never seen anyone work as hard as Ronaldo,” he said. ‘Before training, after training, he was an exceptionally dedicated man and proved to everyone what dedication gets you.
“It’s a desire and attitude from within. It’s what you’ve got in your heart and Cristiano’s always had it,” Solsjaer added.
