Arsenal‘s French striker Olivier Giroud is positive that the Gunners can get ahead in the title race if they can get off to a flier.
Arsenal, who started out in a dull manner at the beginning of last season, finished fourth in the Premier League.
Giroud, 26, said: “If we start better than we did last season, we will compete for the title because we are used to playing together now.”
“We have also improved as individuals — especially the newcomers such as Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and me.”
The Frenchman, bought by Arsenal for £13million from Montpellier last summer, took time settling in but managed to round off his first season in England with seventeen goals to his name, thus justifying the price tag.
“I hope in my second season, I can play week in week out,” the player added.
