8 teams have secured qualification to the group stages, while the remaining 4 spots are set to be filled imminently by virtue of the qualifiers. In stark contrast to the Men's tournament, the Women's edition of the competition does not have an age cap. Great Britain have achieved qualification for the first time in the history of the Olympics and they are set to enter the tournament thanks to England’s exemplary showing in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
