As we move closer and closer to the end of the month and subsequently, the end of the transfer window, reports are still circulating that Marco Reus is a REAL Chelsea target and a deal is being spoken of as early as the next few weeks!
I have to say that personally I find it hard to believe. These same reports also state that Real Madrid and others are monitoring his "situation" at Dortmund so it will be interesting to see who would make the first move to try and sign him; that is if he is in fact available.
Reus ideal partner for Hazard
The whole stability of Dortmund has been thrown into doubt over the course of the season so far after we had heard that coach Jurgen Klopp was interested in a move to the Premier League. If that happens you have to question if certain players would follow.
So to Reus and the link to Chelsea. It's been made apparent or at least spoken of since last season. He is class act and has really made an impression over the past couple of seasons.
He would provide us with an excellent option on the opposite side to Eden Hazard in the current make up of our side. In my view, better than Salah and Schurrle right now.
Schurrle and Salah might want more first-team action
Andre Schurrle, what is there to be said of his future beyond the window? He finds himself constantly being linked with a £23m move away from Stamford Bridge with a couple of clubs in the Bundesliga interested and Dortmund being one of them. Put two and two together here and you get a Reus/Schurrle swap deal.
However, I cannot help but refer back to the managers comments before the turn of the year when he stated that no one would be leaving the club or coming in during the January window so why are people still reporting that the deal is still possible or any other deal for that matter?
Despite Mourinho's comments, that would change if a player came to see him and stated that they wanted a move away to get more first team football with Salah and Schurrle being the most likely candidates. Would one of them do that before the month ends?
As for Reus you would find it hard to believe that Dortmund would want to entertain doing business this month but would prefer next summer if they would consider selling one of their prized assets.
Marco Reus is a real class act and someone I that I believe would be a marked improvement on the options we have available at the moment. If there is any substance in these reports and Jose is interested in signing him then that's fantastic news.
