What's the news?
Juventus Chief Football Officer, Fabio Paratici believes that only Lionel Messi could improve the squad they have at their disposal.
In case you didn't know...
Juventus are among the top teams in Europe and are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.
They won the Serie A consecutively from the last seven seasons and also reached the finals of the UEFA Champions League during the 2016-17 season.
However, that didn't stop them from upgrading their squad and they signed one of the best players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid last summer. The Portuguese is in a great form since joining the club and is currently the leading goalscorer in the Serie A with 18 goals.
The heart of the matter
Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport(via calciomercato.com), Juve's Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici explains that there are not many players who could be an upgrade to the current Juventus squad.
He said: “Allegri is one of the best five managers in the world. He is going to stay and Dybala is going to stay.”
“There are only a few players that could improve this team. Maybe Messi, maybe not Neymar, I have doubts. James Rodriguez is a big player but we have to see. It’s hard to improve this team. Kean is a big striker, he will be playing for many years in Europe”.
He also reveals why Juve signed Cristiano Ronaldo last summer. “I told Agnelli that there is only one way to keep the team motivated: sign Ronaldo or Icardi. CR7 was a deal, not only on a technical level. At an economic level, he repaid his investment on his own. Marotta has never been against his signing. I’m sorry that we don’t work together anymore after 15 years”.
What's next?
Juventus will play Frosinone in the league next, whereas Messi's Barcelona are scheduled to play against Valladolid at Camp Nou on February 16.
