In a Capital Cup encounter that was supposed to be a mismatch, League Two side, Oxford City hammered Championship outfit Brentford 4-0 to progress to the second round of the tournament.
Oxford opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Liam Sercombe who found the back of the net from 18 yards out to put his side ahead. The lead was doubled four minutes later when keeper Jack Bonham's clearance cannoned off Danny Hylton and flew into the net.
Brentford’s miseries didn’t end there as Kemar Roofe’s amazing lob from almost the halfway line completely caught Bonham napping as the U’s extended their lead headed into the dressing room with a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time.
After the break, and in a game that was already done and dusted, Oxford rounded off their thrashing of the Bees as John Mullins slotted home the fourth confirming their ticket to the next round of the Capital Cup.
Roofe’s effort from 40 yards out was the standout goal of the encounter and here is the video of that goal.
