Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has no intention of going easy on his squad in public, The Daily Star reports.
The 45-year-old stated that his radical methods will prevent any problems in the dressing room. The Italian blasted his players after they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace. Sunderland are set to face Arsenal tomorrow and are still hunting for a win this season.
John O’Shea was heavily criticized by Di Canio for being sent off and gifting Crystal Palace a penalty.
Di Canio came under fire from many pundits, one of which includes former Manchester United player and Match of the Day presenter Michael Owen, but the Italian defended his methods saying: “John’s mistake was in front of 500 million in the world.
“It was a public mistake! I can say this because I know John has no problem with me saying it. He is still my captain and my leader.”
The Black Cats manager has stated that his strict style of management will continue. He added: “I will give stick to my players after every game if I believe they are in the wrong.
“Harry Redknapp did many interviews (last season) and no-one asked why he said his team was playing rubbish and s**t football. Why is it only Paolo Di Canio?”
