Papua New Guinea and Fiji will kick-start their OFC Nations Cup campaign when they square off at the HFC Bank Stadium on Sunday. Papua New Guinea are coming into the game on the back of a 4-0 defeat to Central African Republic in an international friendly.

Christian-Theodor Yawanendji-Malipangou broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, while Tieri Godame scored a hat-trick to complete the rout.

Fiji, meanwhile, claimed a 2-0 victory over the Solomon Islands in a friendly in March. Mohammed Raheem and Roy Krishna scored in either half to guide their nation to victory.

The Bula Boys will turn their focus to the Nations Cup where they are the co-hosts alongside Vanuatu. They have been drawn with Tahiti, Samoa and Papua New Guinea in Group B.

Papua New Guinea vs Fiji Prediction

Papua New Guinea will be aiming to start their Nations Cup campaign on a positive note. They have won the last two head-to-head games and this could be a confidence boost.

Fiji are co-hosts and their fans will be behind their nation. They have won two of their last three games and will be looking to register a win against Papua New Guinea in regulation time for the first time since 2004.

Games between these sides tend to witness goals at both ends and we are backing the spoils to be shared in a low-scoring stalemate.

Prediction: Papua New Guinea 1-1 Fiji
