Papua New Guinea face Fiji on Thursday

Papua New Guinea welcome Fiji to PNG Football Stadium for a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday (November 14th). The hosts have not been in action since falling to a 3-1 defeat away to New Caledonia in the qualifiers during the last international break in October.

They were 2-0 down at the break courtesy of goals from Joseph Athale and Georges Gope-Fenepej. Tommy Semmy halved the deficit in the 78th minute while Germain Haewegene restored his nation's two-goal lead five minutes later.

Fiji, meanwhile, claimed maximum points with a 1-0 away win over Solomon Islands. Roy Krishna broke the deadlock in the 13th minute and the Bula Boys held on to their lead despite being reduced to 10 men in the 39th minute.

The victory left them joint-top of Group A with three points from one game. Papua New Guinea are bottom on zero points.
