Parma and Cagliari bring round six of the Italian Serie A to an end when they lock horns at the Ennio Tardini Stadium on Monday. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since Davide Nicola’s men secured a 3-2 aggregate victory in the promotion playoff semi-finals back in 2023.
Parma turned in a resilient team display last Saturday when they scored twice in stoppage time to overturn a two-goal deficit and salvage a 2-2 draw against Lecce at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.
Before that, Fabio Pecchia’s side beat AC Milan 2-1 on August 24 to secure their first league win of the campaign before losing consecutive games against Napoli and Udinese.
Having gained promotion from Serie B last term, Parma have picked up five points from the first 15 available to sit 14th in the Serie A standings, level on points with Lecce, Genoa and fellow newcomers Como.
Cagliari, on the other hand, booked their spot in the Coppa Italia round of 16 last Tuesday when they picked up a 1-0 victory over Cremonese at the Sardegna Arena.
Nicola will hope the cup win can serve as a springboard for a fine run of form as they return to action in Serie A, where they are one of just two sides yet to taste victory this season.
Cagliari have picked up two points from their five Serie A matches to sit rooted to the bottom of the table but could move level with Parma with all three points on Monday.

Parma vs Cagliari Prediction
Having picked up a morale-boosting cup victory last time out, Cagliari will head into Monday’s game with renewed belief as they look to secure their first win of the new league campaign.
However, Nicola’s men have struggled to get going on their travels and we predict Parma will build on their hard-fought result against Lecce with a narrow victory here.
Prediction: Parma 2-1 Cagliari
