Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could be one his way out of the club after falling out with Manager Jose Mourinho.
According to L'Équipe, Pogba has grown frustrated playing in his current position. The report also suggests he regrets returning to Old Trafford.
Since joining on a world record £89million in 2016, he has drawn a lot of criticism for his below-par performances. This is mainly down to the position he has been deployed in. Mourinho often plays him as one of two deep-lying midfielders. Pogba prefers to play as an attacking midfielder like he did at Juventus.
His defensive responsibilities and lack of freedom is affecting his performance at United.
If the French midfielder does leave the club in the summer, here are five potential places where he could end up.
#5 Chelsea
Only two English clubs can afford Pogba: Manchester City and Chelsea. We chose to go with the latter as there is no chance United are selling Pogba to their neighbors even if they make a world record bid.
Chelsea will be set for another summer overhaul after falling behind Manchester City in the league. They have shown their intentions to spend by signing Ross Barkley and Emerson Palmeri in January. But neither player is a sure starter.
Chelsea will be aware signing bonafide starters is the only way to close the gap. Their manager Conte knows everything about Pogba since he managed him at Juventus.
At Chelsea, Pogba can play under a manager who knows how to bring the best out of him.
The likelihood of this transfer is very low though. United surely would prefer to sell him overseas instead of to a direct rival.
#4 Barcelona
On paper, this is highly unlikely. But Barcelona are one of the few clubs that can afford to pay Pogba's massive price tag. There is no doubt Barcelona will be more than happy to take a chance with the French international if they are offered an opportunity to sign him.
However, having just spent £142million on Philippe Coutinho, it is hard to see them going all out to sign the French international.
Apart from this, an aging Suarez, youngster Gerard Deulofeu failing to live up to expectations and Ousmane Dembele failing to deliver since he joined in the summer, Barca have a different problem. They will be keen to reinforce their attack rather than their midfield.
Never say never though.
#3 Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain's dream of European glory hit a stumbling block when they lost to Real Madrid 3-1 last week. If they fail to beat the Spanish giants in the second leg, they could be set for another big summer transfer window.
A switch to Paris will take Pogba closer to home. It could also put an end to PSG's search for a local hero. Pogba was born in Eastern suburbs of Paris in Lagny-Sur-Marne. So, a move to the French capital will be a second homecoming for him.
Even though there are questions about the quality of teams in Ligue 1, a chance to team up with Neymar could be too good to pass up.
#2 Juventus
Why not? Juventus are the club that made Pogba the player he is today. His four years at Turin was nothing but spectacular. He won the Scudetto each year and reached the Champions League final in 2015.
Even though Juve have done well to replace Pogba, they could still sign him if presented an opportunity. Claudio Marchisio is 32 and Sami Khedira will turn 31 in April. Blaise Matuidi is also about to enter his twilight years as a football player.
So they need to find an ideal player to play alongside Miralem Pjanic. Who better do it that their former player. They do have Rodrigo Betancur, but is still in his learning phase.
Overall, a move to Juve could benefit both Juve and Pogba equally.
#1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid were keen on the French international before he joined United in 2016. So, it no surprise that they are one of the clubs that are reportedly keen to sign him.
Real Madrid are set for a massive squad overhaul in the summer. With Modric and Toni Kroos aging, the midfield will be one area in which they will need reinforcements. Both Marcos Llorente and Dani Ceballos have so far failed lived up to expectations. This could force Zidane to turn to his fellow countrymen.
With their Galactico policy, Real Madrid will be happy to spend the big bucks on Pogba.
According to the Sun, Real Madrid are preparing an offer of more than £120million for the French international.
