When Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United at the start of the 2018-19 season as a World Cup winner, every Manchester United fan had a single question in their mind: Will Paul Pogba be able to replicate his France heroics at the Theater of Dreams?
At the start of the season, it felt like Pogba wasn't performing at his best and that he was not giving his all for the club. Speculation of him leaving in the January transfer window also started to do the rounds. Clearly, something was not right between him and the then Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
But then, after a dismal performance against Liverpool in December, Mourinho was sacked and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as the interim United boss.
Pogba hasn't looked back since, and has been scoring and creating goals for fun. Under the new management, Pogba plays in a much more advanced role and he is allowed to make runs in behind the defense, something he didn't do much under Mourinho. He has been playing brilliantly and is consistently performing at a high level now.
Pogba's performances can be seen in his stats in the Premier League. Pogba has scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season, which is the highest he has ever scored in a season, and it's only February. He is the only midfielder in the Europe's top five leagues to be involved in 19 goals.
Pogba has notched up 8 assists and out of his 11 goals, 8 have come under Solskjaer. That shows the improvement he has made under the new management.
Pogba is enjoying his best ever season this year and is just starting to look the like the player Manchester United were hoping he would be. Right now, he can be considered as one of the best midfielders in the world, and possibly the best in England.
Pogba's form will be key for the Red Devils as some big matches are coming up in the month of February. And if the last couple of months are any indication, he will be up to the task.
