Paul Pogba is confident that Juventus holds a strong chance of defeating Real Madrid at least once in the Champions League. Juventus are slated to face Carlo Ancelotti’s men twice in Group B and despite having drawn both of their opening games against FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray, Pogba is certain of their chances.
The former Manchester United player told Gazzetta dello Sport, “There is nothing to be afraid of. We will win at least one game against them and move on in the competition.
“We are Juve and we can’t forget that. Because of the history, prestige and quality of this team we are not inferior to anyone. And, for that reason, Real Madrid hold no fears for me.
“Juventus are at the same level as all of Europe’s other big clubs. We can beat anybody, including Madrid.”
Juve face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 23 with the return leg in Italy taking place two weeks later on November 5.
Pogba’s career with the Italian giants has started off really well and there were speculations about his future.
“The fans of Juve are afraid of losing me? I am still not anyone. What have I done? Nothing in fact,” offered Pogba as reassurance.
“I look to Pirlo and Buffon, and I know what it takes to be a true champion. Those two have won it all, they are greats, but they do not give an inch, even in training.
“Juve for life? Certain promises do not make sense, I will not kid anyone. How can I today determine my whole career? It makes no sense.
“And then I look at now and say that I am happy here in Turin, I love everything about this club – the managers, the Coaches, my teammates and the fans. And at the moment I do not see myself anywhere that isn’t Juventus.”
