Paul Pogba has seen off competition from the likes of Romelu Lukaku and national team-mate Raphael Varane to win the Golden boy award for 2013. The Juventus midfielder has had an incredible year at for the Old Lady, becoming an integral part of Conte’s first team in the process.
In an interview with Tuttosport, Pogba said -
“‘Having won the league for the first time, got as far as the quarter-finals in the Champions League, won the Under-20 World Cup with France and been promoted to the first team by coach [Didier] Deschamps, 2013 really was a golden year for me.”
The youngster also stated that he would do his best to ensure that 2014 be the same or even better than 2013 -
“I just hope that 2014 is the same! One day I would like to win everything there is to win. Dreaming is not illegal. However, I’m a down-to-earth guy, and right now I want to win a third title in a row for Juventus.”
In a hotly contested race to glory, Pogba warded off stiff competition from Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, Schalke’s Julian Draxler and PSG’s Marquinhos and in doing so, joined an elite list of players to have won this award previously including the likes of Wayne Rooney and Rafael Van Der Vaart.
