Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has stated that Barcelona defender Gerard Pique should stay with his club and play in Spain rather than opting to move into the Premier League.
The Spanish international has been linked to several clubs recently including a return to his former club Manchester United. Life at the Camp Nou hasn’t been steady under new manager Luis Enrique as he has watching several of Barcelona’s games from the bench, including the last three.
With United yet to address their problems at the back, rumours of a possible return to the Old Trafford have emerged and Pique may consider his options if the situation in Catalonia doesn’t improve any sooner.
But Scholes is of the opinion that his former team mate will be better suited for La Liga than the Premier League as he enjoys playing in a team that likes to keep possession.
"I have always thought that Spanish football, and Barcelona in particular, suits him best," said Scholes in his column in The Independent."He likes being in a side that keeps possession. He is great at home but playing away at the big teams in England is a completely different prospect for a defender. "His success at Barcelona and with Spain has been incredible. But I think Gerard would find it harder back in the Premier League."
