Rio de Janeiro, Nov 27 (IANS) Brazil football legend Pele remains in hospital as he receives ongoing treatment for a urinary tract infection. The 74-year-old is being treated with intravenous antibiotics and is in a stable condition, Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital said in a statement Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
There was no information on when the three-time World Cup winner would be discharged. Pele had left the same hospital Nov 13 after undergoing surgery to remove kidney stones, later leaving a message for his supporters.
"Thanks to all my fans from around the world who expressed their concern and wished me a quick recovery," Pele wrote on Twitter. "I dedicate everything that I have to you. I am well and I will recover well. I am very grateful for the affection and support."
However, he was admitted to a hospital for the second time in less than two weeks. The former Selecao No.10 has suffered a long list of health problems in the past decade, including emergency eye surgery for a detached retina and a hip replacement.
