Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola feels he will be sacked next season if the club don’t win trophies.
The former Barcelona boss took over the job from Jupp Heynckes who led Bayern to a treble by winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and the Champions League title in his final season. And the Spanish manager feels he is under pressure to deliver more success.
Although they won the domestic double last season in his first season in charge, Guardiola spoke about how the German champions lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final last season.
“It was a shame we lost that way against Real Madrid. Not the fact we lost, but it was an opportunity lost,” he said.
“We won the Bundesliga with a score that has never before been achieved and we won the Cup in an amazing season.”
Pep: Adapting to a new league takes more than a year
Guardiola was quick to point out that this country and league was still new to him and that he was still adapting to a new setup.
“I come to do my best job possible, as I did in Barcelona. I came to a different country from where I was born and raised, where we feel football in a completely different way.
“I adapt and I try to that suits my ideas but it’s a process, not something that is achieved in a year.
He concluded by saying: “There are no secrets. If I don’t win, probably next year another Coach will come.”
