Just seconds after Bayern Munich were beaten 2-1 by an MLS All Stars side earlier today, Pep Guardiola was seen wagging his finger at the MLS bench indicating there would be no customary handshakes with the opposing coach Caleb Porter.
The Spaniard was seemingly unhappy at an awful tackle on one of his players, Xherdan Shaqiri by Osvaldo Alonso despite it being a friendly.
The former Barcelona manager clearly looked unhappy and couldn’t have expressed it more vibrantly
Here is a video of Guardiola refusing the handshake despite Porter trying his best to convince him.
Porter downplayed the incident saying:
"Coaches get heated, and certainly you guys have seen me in games.
Pep is an idol of mine. There were a couple tackles that went wrong."
The Two-time UEFA Champions League winner later attempted to cover the situation up saying he didn’t see the opposing coaching staff.
“I didn’t see him,” he said. “We tried to respect the rules of the game … I appreciate the effort of my players.
“It’s not my job to be concerned with their tackles. That is another person’s job. I don’t know if he did it.”
The United States soccer President Sunil Gulati however confirmed that there was indeed a handshake .
