Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that his teams 4-o drubbing of Schalke 04 is the “Bundesliga performance of the season”. ESPN FC reports.
Last years Bundesliga and Champion’s League winners are accompanied by rivals Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Mandzukic, Franck Ribery and Claudio Pizarro found the back of the net for Bayern Munich.
A ‘proud’ Guardiola told reporters that it was the first time his team took complete command over a match this season.
“That was our best Bundesliga performance of the season so far,” the former Barcelona manager said. “I’m satisfied and proud of this performance and my players.
“In other games we only played well for 30 or 45 minutes, but this time we did very well over 90 minutes. We totally dominated one of the strongest teams in Germany.”
Schweinsteiger, who marked his return to the first team with a goal, shared his managers thoughts and confessed that his team had the right ‘mentality’ for the whole game.
“We took it very seriously from the start, our mentality was right. We were determined to take all three points,” the 29-year-old said.
“It’s not easy to come here and win, so we’re doubly delighted about doing just that. We were definitely very good at times.”
