Pep Guardiola will be given a whopping £240 million war chest to spend at Bayern Munich next summer, if the Daily Mail is to be believed.
Admittedly, such a huge amount seems ridiculous given that 51% of the German club is owned by fans. Even billionaire owned clubs like Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City would shudder at spending that kind of money.
The Mail quotes French paper L’Equipe in reporting that Luis Suarez and Radamel Falcao are Guardiola’s top targets over the summer. Suarez will cost £40 million, while Falcao costs closer to £50 million.
That spending would represent only the tip of the iceberg if the Mail’s story is true.
It is hard to believe the Mail’s claims about a revamping of the Bayern Munich squad, considering the high quality existing in the squad already, in the likes of Mario Gomez, Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben, Manuel Neuer and Philip Lahm to name a few.
Unless, of course, Guardiola wants to reshape the squad more to his liking in an effort to bring in his preferred style of tiki-taka football.
