Video: Pep Guardiola walks out of Bayern Munich press conference

Pep Guardiola offended by questions regarding England job during press briefing

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola exited in the middle of the club’s press briefing after he was questioned about the rumours that linked him with the head coach job of the England national team.

The former Barcelona manager, who will be out of contract with the Bundesliga champions next June, hasn’t made any comments about his future at the Allianz Arena and has refused to disclose anything regarding his future with the German side.

And following Friday, reports of the Spaniard succeeding current England national team coach Roy Hodgson emerged and the question was raised during Bayern’s official press conference ahead of their fixture against Mainz on Saturday.

However, the 44-year-old stressed that he is only concerned about his current role as he is a Bavarian coach before he decided to walk out of the conference.

Pressed to comment, Guardiola said: "Oh come on, I'm coach of Bayern Munich. Many thanks and auf wiedersehen." He then left the briefing.

Guardiola made clear at his news conference he did not want to discuss the issue, having earlier answered a more general question about his future plans with a polite "next question please".

The 44-year-old has led Bayern to two Bundesliga titles in his two years at the club, yet he questioned at the start of this season whether he was the right man for the job.

He said he would step down if he ever got the feeling somebody else would be a better choice for the club, leading to speculation that he will leave next summer. Bayern have said that negotiations over a new contract would be held as and when Guardiola is ready.
