Perez claims Falcao wants summer move to Real Madrid

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has refused to rule out a move for Monaco forwardFalcao, telling Spanish chat show Punto Pelota that he knows the player wants to play for Real. This news come despite the fact that Falcao only transferred to Monaco in the summer – from Real’s cross city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Ruling out a transfer in the short term, Perez left the door open for a future move.

“He won’t come in January but in June, who knows?”, commented Perez.

“Nothing is impossible and there is a lot of time between now and then. Falcao is a great player and I am aware that he wants to play for Madrid. I am aware of that, but it’s normal. They told me.”

Real are in the market for a striker, following a summer in which the club made no secret of their wish to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. However, Perez insists that their high profile striker chase does not mean that the club have given up on current incumbent Karim Benzema.

“I have faith in all the players in our squad. Karim is a great player and we get offers for him all the time, every summer.

All I can say is that the coach is the one who has the authority to do what he believes is right.”

Falcao only signed for Monaco in the summer – in a £51 million deal – but has been dogged by rumoursover his future, as Ligue 1 aim to toughen their stance on the principality club’s tax affairs (whereby Falcao’s wages are tax free.)
