Peter Hermann has joined Schalke 04 as an assistant to head coach Jens Keller. The 61-year-old joins after having served as assistant to Jupp Heynckes at Bayern Munich.
Hermann has signed a deal with Schalke running up to 30 June 2015.
“In Peter Hermann we have gained an experienced man for our coaching staff who has a magnificent reputation in the Bundesliga“, says Schalke general manager Horst Heldt.
A former footballer himself, Hermann made 217 appearances for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen. After that, he went on to serve as assistant coach, firstly for Bayer Leverkusen (1989-2008, 2009-2011) and Nürnberg (2008-2009). Hermann joined Bayern Munich in 2011 and has been instrumental in the club’s success this past season, helping them win the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
