Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has hinted at leaving the club for his current plight of being left on the bench at the club.
The Czech Republic goalkeeper, who has been an integral part of Chelsea since 2004, has been deprived of first-team football this season. He was controversially ignored by Jose Mourinho at the start of the season and favoured Thibaut Courtois in his place.
Already a legend at Chelsea
The 32-year old has been with Chelsea for the last 10 years and has almost 500 appearances with 150 clean sheets against his name. Cech was brought to Stamford Bridge in 2004 from French club Rennes.
He has won a Champions League trophy, three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the Europa League with the London team. The Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has now replaced Cech as Chelsea’s number 1 after enjoying three successful seasons at Atletico Madrid on loan.
Move for better prospects
Cech told Czech Radio:
“I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine. With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play. I have not spoken to anybody at the club but if the situation will not start to improve for me then I will want to solve it.”
He replaced Courtois on Saturday against Arsenal, when the 22-year old suffered a head injury following a collision with Alexis Sanchez. Cech is scheduled to play for Czech Republic against Turkey in the Euro Cup qualifier on Friday. He has just played twice for the Blues this season and has only 66 mins of playing time in the Premier League.
