Sebastián Pérez Cardona is a Colombian U-20 player who is currently on trial at Arsenal FC. The fans have been trying to get to know the player better so here is a quick overview of who Pérez is, and what he can bring to Arsenal. To start with, Pérez is 20 years old, playing currently at Athletico Nacional in Colombia.
Pérez made is debut for his current club at the age of just 18, coming on as sub in the 86th minute in a game against Athletico Junior. He has also gone on to represent Colombia at the international level with the U-20 team, making his debut at the 2011 U-20 World Cup, held in Colombia.
Pérez is said to be a versatile midfielder, who can play both in an attacking and defensive midfield position. In relation, Pérez can be said to be relatively similar to Mikel Arteta. Arteta, too, likes to hang around in the centre of midfield, protecting the back four and at the same time being an orchestrator of the attacks.
An impressive fact about Pérez is that he is two-footed, and has the ability to play the ball equally well with both feet, much like Santi Cazorla. In his current club, he is known for his accurate passing, and initiating swift counter attacks. Much like Arteta and Cazorla, Pérez too is reputed to have a great long range shot, even though he is yet to score for club or country.
His versatility could benefit Arsenal greatly as they are considerably thin in midfield after the sale of multiple players, and the loan of Francis Coquelin.
Even though he might not be a marquee signing, he could be one to hold for the future, as Arsenal have been known to do in the past.
