The votes are in! The public has spoken!
After three days of voting and close to 4000 votes, here are the winners for October’s Player of the month.
Goalkeeper of the month: Joe Hart
Winner by a landslide margin, the month of October saw Hart back to his glorious form of last season with one of the most impressive displays put on by a goalkeeper in the last decade against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Defender of the month: Per Mertesacker
Playing in front of forced-selection Mannone, Mertesacker’s performances, which have been full of aerial dominance and excellent positional awareness, have more often than not minimized the damage done to Arsenal. A deserving win for the German international.
Midfielder of the month: Juan Mata
The month of October finally saw the Spaniard come to the fore, and come to the fore he did. Chelsea looked even more threatening as the Mata show hit the town. The left footer was in imperious form and 10 goals in 3 games in the Premier League, which included a controversial loss to Manchester United, is a testament to how he propelled Chelsea’s offense in this period.
Striker of the month: Lionel Messi
Bagging a total of 7 goals, and 3 assists for October, Messi has helped Barcelona maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign, as they sit pretty on top of the La Liga table. His goals include a brace against Real Madrid, in the El Clasico, as well as a vital hat-trick that helped sink Deportivo La Coruna 5 – 4.
