Barcelona produced a world class display of attacking football as they tore into the Getafe defence time and time again. It could have been more than six but this was a good way to prepare for their midweek game against Arsenal in the Champions league. Here how the players fared.
Bravo – 6/10
Didn’t have much to do in goal with Barcelona dominating possession. Made a comfortable stop from a long range effort and had to closed down a Getafe player quickly in the second half on his near post
Aleix Vidal – 7/10
Did his part in defence today. Was disciplined and pressed high to win the ball back. Did not get too involved in Barcelona's attacks on the flank but it really wasn’t required
Gerard Piqué – 7.5/10
Never really too much to do for Pique but was calm and composed when threatened by Getafe’s attack. Moved the ball well to his teammates and got an assist as well albeit a lucky one for Arda’s goal.
Jeremy Mathieu – 7/10
Partnered Pique well in defence. Once again in a dominating team performance, he didn’t have much to do but did what he had to when required without any risk
Jordi Alba – 8/10
The left back displayed his full attacking talent today. Joined attacks at every opportunity. His cross led to the first own goal. Recovered well in defence as well whenever Barcelona lost the ball
S. Roberto – 7.5/10
A good overall display from Roberto. Worked extremely hard in midfield. Rotated the possession well and ensured the attack never lost momentum
Arda Turan – 8/10
The Turkish international is finally coming into his own in the Barcelona team. Linked up really well with Iniesta and Messi and scored a wonderful overhead kick for Barcelona's sixth of the game
Andres Iniesta – 9/10
Iniesta showed his class today in midfield. He was the instigator for almost every Barcelona attack in the first half. played some lovely through balls for the forward lines to feed upon. His performance was second only to Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi – 9.5/10
Another man of the match performance by the Argentine maestro. Ever since his return he has been getting better and better every day. Messi recorded three assists for the first time in a La Liga game and also got on the scoresheet scoring a wonderful low drive into the bottom corner from just outside the box. Sadly once again missed a penalty though.
Munir El Haddadi – 7.5/10
Filled in for Luis Suarez today who was on the bench rested by Luis Enrique. Did well and got into good positions in the box. Scored the second goal of the match heading in from Messi’s cross.
Neymar – 9/10
The Brazilian produced a fine display today. Terrorised the defence with his trickery and pace. Should have had a penalty in the first half but still got on the scoresheet twice, both assisted by Lionel Messi.
Substitutes
Thomas Vermaelen – N/A
Came on as a substitute for Mathieu in the second half, with the game already over.
Marc Batra – 5/10
Played well for the 20 minutes he was on.
Sergi Samper – 5/10
Replaced the wonderful Andres Iniesta. The youngster did well and played a safe game.
