MILAN (AFP) –
Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba’s season could be over after the Frenchman was handed a three-game ban by Serie A disciplinary officials on Monday for spitting.
Pogba was sent off late in Juventus’s 1-0 win over Palermo, which secured a 29th league title for the Old Lady of Turin, after spitting in the direction of Salvatore Aronica following a tussle.
A statement on the official Serie A website, legaseriea.it, said Pogba was “suspended for three games for having spat at an opposing team’s player in the 38th minute of the second half.”
Juventus have three games remaining in the campaign, meaning Pogba’s season is over unless the club launches a successful appeal.
The incident and subsequent ban has tinged what has been a promising season for the 20-year-old Pogba, who has performed well for the Bianconeri following his summer free transfer from Manchester United.
