Lisbon, Dec 16 (IANS) FC Porto beat Rio Ave 3-1 in the 13th round of the Portuguese League in Vila do Conde, piling pressure on Sporting and Benfica.
A well-organised Porto pressured Rio Ave from the start of the game on Sunday, with Maicon Roque scoring in the sixth minute with a header following Carlos Eduardo’s free kick, reports Xinhua.
Rio Ave shocked the former Champions League winners with Edimar equalising in the 21st minute with a low shot.
Chelsea target Jackson Martinez’s effort beat Ederson to the right post in the 51st minute, making the score 2-1 in favour of Porto.
Danilo’s shot in the 82nd rolled into the net after a free kick bounced off Rio Ave’s post, securing the victory for Porto.
