The Portuguese Football Federation have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is suffering from tendonitis in the paletta tendon of his left leg.
Their official statement said that he is suffering from "a muscle injury on the back of his left thigh as well as left-leg patellar tendonitis." This news puts doubts over the extent of his participation at the World Cup starting next week.
Earlier stated to be just a simple muscle strain, the Portuguese Football Federation’s statement confirms the concerns over Ronaldo’s knee. However, in what should come as relief to both Portugal’s and Ronaldo’s fans, he began his training with some basic ball work on Tuesday.
The Portuguese star picked up his injury towards the end of 2013-14 campaign with Real Madrid as they pushed for a treble.
Ronaldo is expected to be one of the most influential players at the upcoming World Cup.
