Manchester United Defensive Midfielder - Scott McTominay
Scott McTominay might not be the most well-rounded defensive midfielder in the Premier League. But he has definitely been one of Manchester United's better players this season. The Scot is the type to never give up and the Red Devils could use more players with a similar mentality.
McTominay has also gotten better at running with the ball but needs to show a lot more positional discipline during defensive transitions. The 25-year-old scored seven goals in the Premier League last season. He has just one this term and would love to add more to his tally.
Speaking to the club's media team a couple of days back, McTominay said:
"Last year I scored seven goals so obviously I want to beat that this year and I want to keep pushing forwards into the box."
Central midfielder - Paul Pogba
What a difference Paul Pogba has made to this Manchester United side since making his return from a hamstring injury. The Red Devils had missed his inventiveness, slick passing, and ball retention abilities dearly.
He has helped Manchester United exercise a lot more control over proceedings in the midfield realms.
When Pogba is on the pitch, Manchester United can carve out openings in the blink of an eye. However, the Frenchman's defensive acumen is rather suspect. He is not very fast and gets beaten far too easily when the Red Devils are defending.
But it's a risk they'd be willing to take just because of how much better they play when Pogba is running things from midfield.
Central midfielder - Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United's best player this season. He has created 71 chances in the Premier League this term, seven more than Trent Alexander-Arnold in second. Fernandes is always looking for that killer pass but is also guilty of being wasteful at times.
He has delivered some top notch balls to his forwards in recent weeks but only a handful have been converted. In the game against Brighton & Hove Albion, Ronaldo's poor finishing let Fernandes and United down. The 27-year-old played two lovely crosses into the area but the 37-year-old made a meal of both.
Fernandes scored a hat-trick against Leeds United the last time the two sides met. He will be hoping to make a similar impact at Elland Road on Sunday.
