Arsenal got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a win over Swansea City. Having gone down to a goal from Sam Clucas in the first half, the hosts fought back brilliantly in the second half to keep the heat on the teams above them in the table.
Goals from Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey ensured Arsene Wenger celebrated his 800th Premier League game in-charge with smiles and three points. Swansea, for their part, played excellently in the first half and deserved at least a point.
Here's how the players fared:
Arsenal
Petr Cech - 6.5/10
The big man between the sticks didn't have the best of games evident by his part in letting Swansea City take the lead through Sam Clucas. When needed to stay on the line and protect the front post, he wandered off and got beaten to give the visitors the lead.
Laurent Koscielny - 7.5/10
A solid well-rounded performance from the Frenchman. As is expected these days having shifted completely to a 3-4-3 system. He had a 92.9% passing accuracy rate and got three vital interceptions, too.
Per Mertesacker - 7/10
Barring one shaky moment when he almost let Jordan Ayew steal the ball off him and score, the German was calm and composed when his team needed him directing traffic from the back and ensuring his side starved Swansea of an equaliser.
Nacho Monreal - 7.5/10
Easily Arsenal's best defender this season, the Spaniard put in another good performance with an 89.5% passing accuracy rate, winning 62.5% of his duels and creating one big chance for his side which Olivier Giroud fluffed late in the game.
Hector Bellerin - 7/10
With Arsenal's current formation, Hector Bellerin has gone from a right-back to almost a right-winger. He spent most of his time further ahead and he almost scored a goal only for the crossbar to play spoilsport.
Sead Kolasinac - 8.5/10
Arsenal's Man of the Match, Sead Kolasinac is proving to be one of the best buys of the season -- despite the lack of a price tag -- with his one goal and one assist in today's game. His passing accuracy was also excellent at 91.4%.
Aaron Ramsey - 8/10
Not the usual performance from the Welshman but he took his goal well and contributed to Arsenal's attack better than most others. Needs to get back quicker, though.
Granit Xhaka - 6.5/10
He can either be brilliant or extremely frustrating and today, we experienced the latter abundantly. Granit Xhaka is a good passer of the ball but it just didn't click for him today with plenty of passes astray and a general lack of concentration.
Mesut Ozil - 7.5/10
Not as effective as he was against Everton in midweek but Mesut Ozil was once again instrumental in Arsenal getting the win with him making those cute passes in the final third and causing the Swansea defence to panic.
Alexis Sanchez - 7.5/10
The more you see Alexis Sanchez play these days, the more he looks like a person slipping away from the team. Although his passing was poor today, he did create three key chances and almost got an assist.
Alexander Lacazette - 6.5/10
Never quite got into the game. Was marshalled well by Alfie Mawson but he did create a few chances here and there for his teammates to tuck away.
Substitutes
Rob Holding - 6/10
Came on for the injured Sead Kolasinac and slotted in the back three. Had nothing much to do as the game began to fade.
Olivier Giroud - 6/10
Decision-making often poor when he came on. Should've scored from a lovely Nacho Monreal cross into the box.
Swansea City
Lukasz Fabianski - 6.5/10
The former Arsenal keeper appeared to be doing everything right in the first half but couldn't do enough for both the goals Arsenal scored.
Alfie Mawson - 7/10
Expertly kept Alexander Lacazette at bay with his presence and tackles. He's growing to become quite the player for the Swans, Paul Clement and an overwatching Gareth Southgate.
Federico Fernandez - 6.5/10
Should have got out faster to deny Arsenal the equaliser in the second half but was otherwise effective when needed. Lost all of his duels, though.
Mike Van der Hoorn - 7/10
The Dutchman was another good defender on the night who usually kept poking at Alexis Sanchez. Did well to keep the Chilean off his usual game.
Sam Clucas - 7/10
In for the injured Martin Ollson and what an impression he left. Took the goal superbly and deserved to do so. Was all over the pitch plenty of times and put in a good shift.
Kyle Naughton - 6.5/10
The former Tottenham man didn't have the best of games having to deal with tank-man Sead Kolasinac. Was overrun too easily and should've played a little deeper to have more of an impact.
Tom Carroll - 6.5/10
Another former Tottenham man who didn't quite get into the game today. His passing is usually way better than the 81.5% today and it seemed like Aaron Ramsey left him for dead at every given moment.
Leroy Fer - 6.5/10
Started the game brightly stealing the ball and feeding his forwards but his influence on the game faded as the clock ticked. Lost a majority of his battles and his first touch let him down too often.
Sung Yueng-Ki - 7/10
Back into the squad after recovering from his injury and did well by adding some of that much-needed steel in this Swansea side. Couldn't do anything to prevent his side from losing.
Tammy Abraham - 7/10
A constant threat down the middle, Tammy Abraham is getting better and better with each passing game. Had some fun with Per Mertesacker every now and then.
Jordan Ayew - 6.5/10
Apart from stealing the ball from the Arsenal captain and almost scoring, the Ghanian hardly had any influence on the game.
Substitutes
Luciano Narsingh- 6/10
Didn't have much of an impact coming on. His pace and dribbling do cause problems.
Nathan Dyer - 6/10
Also came on very late for him to have an effect on the game. 100% pass accuracy, though.
Oliver McBurnie - 6.5/10
Even though he played for five minutes, he had an impact winning his duels in the Arsenal penalty area and generally being a nuisance.
