When Jose Mourinho said in a pre-game interview that “Romelu is one of the players that should be untouchable in terms of the respect of everyone,” he had made a point.

He has won more aerial duels (3.3 per game) than in any of his previous five Premier League seasons. He has also scored 16 goals while providing 7 assists in the Premier League itself.

Statistics don’t always reflect what happens on the field. It’s very important to highlight that when someone is discussing Lukaku's performance, so much of his work goes unnoticed. Sometimes it is deliberate, as the striker is asked to hold up the ball upfield while his teammates come into better positions.

The Belgian is currently struggling for confidence and recently went on a goalless streak for a number of matches, but it won’t last for a long time.

Lukaku was signed to score more than 20 goals in a season. He is currently doing this job superbly for Mourinho's functional Manchester United side.
