Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Arsenal, Player Ratings

Promise, his mouth was open when he headed the ball.

Alexander Lacazette almost scored from Arsenal's best chance in the game. Uff, the margins.

Arsenal

Petr Cech - 7/10

Seems like it's been forever since he's been on a hundred and ninety-nine clean sheets in the Premier League and although he did pull off some incredible saves today, wasn't at his confident best either.

Nacho Monreal - 6/10

Been going through a bit of a dry spell having not scored in his last two games for Arsenal. Need to seriously look at the timing of his runs and his boots, maybe.

Laurent Koscielny - 6/10

Was beaten far too easily by Harry Kane far too often. Clueless about the goal. Clueless generally, too, actually.

Shkodran Mustafi - 7/10

Had a good first half shouting and berating his teammates; had a poor second half shouting and berating at the officials. What's that thing about the football being a game of two halves?

Hector Bellerin - 8/10

Arsenal's best defender - and fashionista - of the night. Kept Son quite marvellously with tackles, slides steals, hairdos and the occasional foul.

Granit Xhaka - 7/10

Given a much higher role thanks to the change in formation but didn't make the most of it and was often slow reacting to situations. Frustrating is probably the word you're thinking, too.

Mohamed Elneny - 6/10

Just doesn't look like a player who can brush opposition players from the ball, steal it, and make the pass. Might be in the wrong club and in the wrong position.

Jack Wilshere - 7/10

Played a lovely through-ball to feed his new striker in - which the officials got wrong for calling it an offside - but was otherwise not as effective as in recent weeks.

Mesut Ozil - 6.5/10

Not his best of games given Tottenham's press and some bloke named Dembele but looked for Aubameyang when he could and that is exciting for the future.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 6/10

You're allowed to make one mistake a day, that's totally normal, but today, it looked like the Armenian had saved up those mistakes from matches before. Just didn't work for him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 6/10

How he loves to run in behind defences but his teammates never quite encouraged him to do so. Could've offered more, sure, but didn't that's the thing.

Substitutes

Alexander Lacazette - 7/10

Lay off him, will you? Came on, did all the right things but finish those chances. Caused panic in the Spurs defence. Surely his time isn't already over at Arsenal.

Alex Iwobi - 6/10

Too many misplaced passes at key instances. Should've been more patient on the ball.

Danny Welbeck - 6/10

Great to see the lad back in the team. Arsenal have missed his drive, his energy, his awkwardness and his determination. Did well to win the free kick in the dying seconds of the game.
