Liverpool v Manchester City - Champions League Quarter Final

When was the last time the Premier League title was decided on the last day? It was in the 2013-14 season, and interestingly it involved the same two teams - Manchester City and Liverpool.

City had a two-point advantage goinf into the final game, which they won, with Liverpool also winning their encounter against Newcastle United.

This season too, things got heated up at the top. The numbers definitely do back the narrative. The 2018-2019 saw a record number of changes take place at the top of the table (32), topsy-turvy to say the very least. The record before this was 28 times in the 2001-2002 season fought out between Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Although Manchester City won the league, Liverpool were on top for 16 days more than Manchester City. Interestingly enough, this may feel like deja vu for a lot of the older Liverpool fans. In the 1990-1991 season, Liverpool spent 22 more days at the top of the table than in the 18-19 season (163 days), only to finish second again. A statistic, the Liverpool fans, perhaps would want to forget.
