David Silva extracted first blood in the Manchester derby after scoring his side‘s first goal. Brilliant work from Bernardo Silva at the back post found David Silva in the centre of the box who thumped it past De Gea to set the Etihad Stadium on fire.

In the 66th minute, David Silva‘s left-footed strike got blocked from Bernardo Silva‘s cross.

He performed a crucial role in setting up Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho whose shots got blocked out by the United defence. Overall, Silva continues to be one of City's most consistent players.

Venezuelan Salomón Rondón provided the impetus for the Magpies with a brace giving Rafael Benítez breathing space with their second consecutive win in the Premier League.

Both of Rondón‘s goals displayed the attributes of a number nine player before a splendid save of the legs from Begovic denied him the hat-trick in the 89th minute.

DeAndre Yedlin provided a peach of a cross from the byline with Rondon unleashing a first-time volley which got saved brilliantly by Begovic. However, Rondon instantly reacted to slot the rebound back into the net to put the Magpies up in front.

Kenedy provided a sublime cross into the centre of the goal in the 40th minute. Rondon powered his way in front of his marker for an unstoppable header into the top left corner.

Rondon earlier missed a header from Ritchie‘s cross in the 55th minute while another from Ki Sung’s cross got blocked in the 47th minute.

Italian Manolo Gabbiadini scored an early goal for the Saints following a goalmouth melee involving Roberto Pereyra and Danny Ings from a corner. Gabbiadini slotted the resultant free ball into the goal.

Gabbiadini remained lively during the entire match after his left-footed shot from outside the box got saved from James Ward-Prowse‘s cross in the 83rd minute.

He squandered two more opportunities of which one went high from Armstrong’s cross and other was inches wide of the left goal post of Højbjerg‘s cross in the 46th minute.

He found Charlie Austin with a through ball in the 52nd minute which got called as an offside by the linesman. He set up Yoshida for a header in the centre of the box which got blocked out in the 74th minute.

Gabbiadini impressed for the Saints in his second Premier League start this season as Mark Hughes finds himself in the hot seat as Southampton still search for a victory after eight consecutive games.
