Winners: Arsenal FC
For a club that were reported to have an estimated budget of £45 million, Arsenal have done stupendously well. They let Aaron Ramsey leave to Juventus for a free and had a huge job to do with the defensive improvements. A bid for Zaha had failed after Palace presented an asking price too high for Arsenal's liking.
In the last few weeks, however, Arsenal turned up the heat. Nicolas Pepe's £72 million deal was announced, William Saliba's deal was announced a bit before that, Dani Ceballos was roped in on loan from Real Madrid. This gave Arsenal the reinforcement they need in attack, defence (although Saliba was loaned back to St. Etienne) and midfield.
On deadline day, Arsenal signed David Luiz for a meager £8 million and also Kieran Tierney from Celtic. This will do more than enough for Arsenal's backline for the time being. David Luiz is one of the best ball-playing center-backs in the league and a decent defender. Arsenal loaned Saliba back to St. Etienne and they can afford to do that. Rob Holding, Sokratis, David Luiz are very good, with Shkodran Mustafi looking more and more unreliable with each passing game.
Reiss Nelson is back after a loan spell at Hoffenheim, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are still in the team, so letting Alex Iwobi's departure would not hurt them as much. Enough wing options are present, the midfield is good too, the defense has been reinforced pretty well. This was a great window for Arsenal.
